Pigmentation
Effective Treatment for Skin Pigmentation & Dark Spots
What is Pigmentation?
Pigmentation refers to the darkening or uneven coloring of the skin caused by excess melanin — the natural pigment that gives your skin its tone. When melanin production increases or becomes irregular, it results in patches, spots, or overall discoloration
Common Types of Pigmentation
1. Freckles
Small brown spots triggered by sun exposure. Frequently appear on the face, shoulders, and arms.

2. Sun Tan
A protective response to UV light where the skin darkens after sun exposure.
3. Sun Spots / Age Spots
Larger flat brown areas that develop due to long-term sun damage, especially on the face and hands.
4. Melasma
Brownish-gray patches typically on the cheeks, forehead, and upper lip. Often hormone-linked (e.g., pregnancy, birth control).

5. Nevus of Ota
A bluish-grey pigmentation seen around the eye and cheek area. It’s a deeper dermal pigment and can be more resistant to treatment.

6. Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH)
Dark marks left after acne, cuts, burns, or inflammation heals.

7. Benign Pigmented Lesions
Non-cancerous spots or marks that may appear due to genetics or aging.

What Causes Pigmentation?
Sun Exposure – UV rays stimulate melanin production
Hormonal Changes – Pregnancy, birth control, melasma
Inflammation & Injury – Acne marks, trauma
Genetics – Family tendencies toward uneven pigment
Medications & Chemicals – Certain drugs and topical products
Aging – Natural accumulative sun damage

Picosecond Laser Therapy
What It Is:
Picosecond lasers emit ultra-short pulses of laser energy measured in trillionths of a second (picoseconds) — significantly faster than older technologies

How It Works:
Instead of relying mainly on heat, picosecond lasers use a photoacoustic effect — high-speed energy pulses that shatter pigment particles into extremely fine fragments. These tiny fragments are more easily cleared by the body’s natural lymphatic system without damaging surrounding tissue.
